On-the-ground projects to drive sustainable actions
SSI Country Platforms
After recognizing the importance of building local capacity in sourcing hubs, three local platforms have been established; SSI-Vietnam, the National Sustainable Spices Program (NSSP) in India, and SSI-Indonesia. These platforms involve relevant stakeholders in the country to deal with specific sustainability challenges to the indigenous region.
NSSP
In India, the members have come together to form a working group to work towards a sustainable solution to irresponsible agrochemical use on the farms.
SSI Vietnam
In Vietnam, the platform has been successful in mobilizing the government and the sector to work towards sustainability in pepper and other spices.
SSI Indonesia
SSI-Indonesia is a multi-stakeholder platform driving sustainable transformation across the Indonesian spice value chain. Through innovation, collaboration, and climate-smart practices, it empowers smallholder farmers, improves spice quality, and connects local producers to global markets.
